Dishwasher dimensions are the width, height and depth a dishwasher needs, and this page gives you a size chart plus a fit check for a cabinet opening you measure. The chart lists five dishwasher types with sizes from manufacturer spec sheets, and the fit check shows how many models fit your opening and what does not. The common 24 in built-in size is the first row of the chart. The tool runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded. It is free and needs no sign-up. Sizes vary by maker, so treat the results as calculated from your inputs and typical sizes from the named sources, then check the installation guide packed with your model.

How to use the dishwasher dimensions tool

  1. Measure the opening where the dishwasher will go. Record the width, the depth, and the height from the floor to the underside of the countertop at its lowest point.
  2. Enter the “Opening width”, “Opening height” and “Opening depth”. You can use inches, cm, feet or m, so use whichever unit your tape shows.
  3. Under “Show the chart in”, choose inches or centimeters.
  4. Read the five rows: standard 24 in built-in, compact 18 in built-in, single dishwasher drawer, double dishwasher drawer, and portable 24 in. Each row shows product width, height and depth, the opening or space asked for (width x depth x height), and the number of spec sheets.
  5. Read the “Result” line, then the table “Does it fit your opening?”. It covers every row except the double drawer, and for each one it shows how many models fit, with the reasons.
  6. If a model fits but your opening is more than 1 in wider than the cutout it asks for, the page says so. Check that note before you choose a size.
  7. If the page shows an unusual-size warning, measure again. It appears when the width is under 10 or over 60 in, the height is under 20 or over 60, or the depth is under 10 or over 60.
  8. Before you buy, open the installation guide for your exact model. It covers toe-kick height and plumbing and power positions, which this page does not check.

What are standard dishwasher dimensions?

Standard dishwasher dimensions refer to the common 24 in built-in size, which is the first row of the chart. The product measures 23 9/16 to 23 7/8 in wide, 33 3/8 to 35 in high (many models adjust) and 23 3/4 to 25 in deep.

The cutout asked for is 24 in wide and 24 in deep on the four sheets that give one. Height is measured from the floor to the underside of the countertop. The four sheets ask for 33 1/2 to 34 3/4 in, 34 in (reducible to 33 1/2 in by removing the wheels and insulation blanket), 33 7/8 in and 34 1/8 in. “Standard” here means this common size. It is not a regulation, and sizes vary by maker.

The other rows follow the same pattern. The compact 18 in built-in row uses one maker’s sheet, with a cutout of 17 3/4 in wide, 24 in deep and 32 1/8 in high. The single drawer is 23 9/16 in wide, 16 1/8 in high (17 7/8 in for tall models) and 22 9/16 in deep. Its cabinetry needs a minimum inside height of 412 mm (about 16.22 in; 456 mm for tall models) and a minimum overall depth of 22 13/16 in. The page uses 23 5/8 in as the minimum width. The double drawer is 820 to 880 mm (32.28 to 34.65 in) overall height, but its cavity sizes were not read, so it appears in the chart only. The portable 24 in model is 23 5/8 in wide, 36 in high and 25 1/8 to 25 3/8 in deep. It stands on the floor and needs no cabinet opening, so the page treats its size as the space it needs.

How does the fit check decide whether a dishwasher fits?

The fit check compares your opening with the cutout each model asks for. A model fits when your opening is at least as wide and at least as deep as the cutout, at least the minimum height, and not taller than the maximum where the sheet gives one. The double drawer is left out of the check because no opening was read for it.

Only one sheet gives a maximum height, 34 3/4 in. Height is where the standard sheets differ most. For example, with an opening of 24 x 33 3/4 x 24 in, only two of the four standard 24 in sheets fit. The other two need 33 7/8 in and 34 1/8 in, so they do not.

Metric openings are converted the same way. A 60 x 87 x 60 cm opening is 23.62 in wide, which is a little under the 24 in cutout that every 24 in sheet asks for. None of the 24 in models fit it. A 60 cm dishwasher is a different product from the 24 in built-in size, so measure before you assume a match.

Frequently asked questions

Is 24 inches the standard dishwasher width?

The common built-in size in this chart is 24 in for the cutout. The dishwasher itself measures 23 9/16 to 23 7/8 in wide, which is why the cutout is listed separately from the product width. Sizes vary by maker.

What is the difference between product size and the opening?

Product size is the measurement of the dishwasher itself. The opening, or cutout, is the space the cabinet must provide. The fit check compares your opening with the cutout, not with the product size.

What if my opening is 18 inches wide?

The compact 18 in built-in row is for that size. Only one maker’s sheet was read for it, and it asks for a cutout 17 3/4 in wide, 24 in deep and 32 1/8 in high. If your opening is more than 1 in wider than the cutout, the page notes it when the model fits.

Does a 60 cm opening fit a 24 inch dishwasher?

Not in the way the chart works. A 60 cm opening is 23.62 in wide, which is under the 24 in cutout that all four 24 in sheets ask for. A 60 cm dishwasher is a different product. Check the installation guide for your model.

Does this tool check toe-kick height or plumbing?

No. Toe-kick height and the plumbing and power positions are in each model’s installation guide. The page calculates fit from the width, height and depth you enter.

Why do the results say sizes vary?

Each maker publishes its own sizes, and the page shows typical sizes from the named sources. The results are calculated from your inputs, so confirm them against the installation guide packed with the model you choose.
