What a floor bed frame is and what we stock
We carry 9 floor bed frames. A floor bed frame sits low to the ground, often with the mattress platform close to floor level. This can make a room feel more open and can be easier to get into and out of than a tall bed. The frames in our range are mostly metal, with steel slat support and underbed storage. Heights that are specified are 14 inches. If you want a low profile, check the height on the product page. A low frame can also help in rooms with low ceilings or for anyone who prefers a step-free transition to bed.
Measure the wall run and the room first
Before you choose a frame, measure the wall where the bed will go and the clear floor space around it. A floor bed frame still needs room for bedding and for you to move around it. Allow at least 24 to 30 inches of walking space on the sides you use to get in and out. If the frame has underbed storage, you will need clearance to pull storage boxes or drawers out. Check door swings and wardrobe doors so they do not hit the bed. For a small room, a low frame can make the space feel less crowded, but it still takes up the same footprint as any other bed of the same size. Write down the length and width you have, then compare with the product dimensions.
Choose the right size for the sleepers
Floor bed frames come in twin, full, queen and king sizes. Twin is a common choice for a single sleeper or a child's room. Full gives more width for one adult or a small child sharing. Queen is the most popular size for couples, and king gives the most width. The frame size must match the mattress size. A mattress that is too small will slide, and one that is too large will overhang. If you are unsure, measure your mattress and check the product page for the exact dimensions. Also consider the height of the sleepers: a lower frame can be easier for children or anyone who has trouble climbing into a taller bed. The 14-inch height on some of our frames is measured from the floor to the top of the platform, so add your mattress depth to see the total bed height.
Check the material and support
Most of our floor bed frames are metal, and many use steel slats. Steel slats provide a firm base and can remove the need for a box spring. A metal frame is generally easy to wipe clean and does not hold dust mites as readily as fabric. If you prefer an upholstered look, we have one low upholstered platform bed in light grey polyester. That model is a different construction from the metal frames, so read its description for support details. For any frame, check the weight capacity if it is listed. Also look at the number of legs or support points: more support points can reduce flex. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, a solid platform or closely spaced slats is often recommended. The product page will say whether a box spring is required.
Storage and access under the frame
Eight of our nine floor bed frames include underbed storage. That storage can be open space or a designated area for boxes. A low frame with storage can be useful in a small room, but you need to be able to reach it. If the frame is only 14 inches high, the clearance underneath may be limited. Measure the height of your storage containers and compare with the frame height. Some frames have slats that run across the whole base, which can limit what you can slide underneath. Others have an open design. Check the product images and description to see how the storage area is arranged. If you need frequent access, consider a frame with a higher clearance or a different storage solution such as a bed with drawers.
Assembly and noise
Most metal platform frames assemble with basic tools and come with instructions. Two people can make it easier to align the parts. A frame that is not tightened properly can squeak, so tighten all bolts after assembly and check them again after a week. Some frames include non-slip tape or design features to reduce noise. If you are sensitive to noise, look for a frame described as noise-free. An upholstered frame may be quieter than a metal one, but it can still creak if joints loosen. Place the frame on a level floor. If the floor is uneven, use shims under the legs to stop rocking. A rocking frame can damage the joints over time. Keep the assembly instructions for future reference.

Limits of this guide
This guide describes the range as a whole. Two products described in similar terms can still differ in slat spacing, leg design, finish or hardware. The individual product page governs. Always read the specifications, dimensions and care instructions for the exact item you are considering. If a detail matters to you, such as the exact clearance under the frame or the weight limit, check the product page or contact the seller. We cannot guarantee that a feature mentioned here applies to every item. Use this guide to narrow your options, then confirm the details on the product page before you buy.
