Measure the wall run and the mattress first

King size is a mattress size, not a frame size. Frames add width and length for the rails, headboard and footboard. Measure the wall run where the bed will sit, then subtract at least 60 cm of walking space at the foot and 75 cm at each side where you can. If the room is tight, a frame with a footboard and drawers at the foot will not work. Drawers need clear floor in front of them to pull out. A drawer depth of 40 to 50 cm is common, so leave that much free space. Check door swings and radiator positions too. A king frame that fits the wall can still block a wardrobe door. They are light enough for two people to move and they do not need much care. Wood frames, 3 in our range, give a warmer look and can be stained or painted. They are heavier and may need more assembly. Fabric frames, 1 in our range, are upholstered and often include a padded headboard. Fabric shows marks more than metal or wood, so think about how you use the bed. All four materials can support a king mattress if the frame is built for it. The material does not decide quality on its own. Joints, slat spacing and weight limits matter more.

Height, clearance and getting in and out

Only 5 of the 17 frames state a height, and that height is 14 inches. That is a common platform height. It gives useful space underneath and keeps the mattress at a comfortable level for most adults. If you have a thick mattress, check the total height. A 14-inch frame plus a 12-inch mattress puts the sleeping surface at 26 inches, which is fine for most people but high for some.
