Match the bench to your entryway layout

A bench with a back panel and hooks, often called a hall tree, suits a wall where you can anchor it. It gives you a place to hang coats and bags above the shoe storage. A backless bench works better in the middle of a room or under a window. If your entryway is a narrow corridor, choose a bench with a shallow depth and put it against the longest wall.
