Remember that the depth of the rack should accommodate your largest shoes; a depth of 10.6 inches is enough for most adult shoes, but boots may need more. If you are short on floor space, a taller, narrower rack may work better than a wide, low one.

Each material has its own care requirements: solid wood may need occasional oiling, while wood-plastic and bamboo can be wiped with a damp cloth. None of these materials are immune to water damage, so avoid placing them in damp areas unless the product is specifically described as waterproof.

Tiers and storage capacity

The number of tiers determines how many pairs of shoes you can store. A 2-tier rack typically holds 6 to 8 pairs, a 3-tier rack 9 to 12 pairs, and a 5-tier rack 15 to 20 pairs, depending on shoe size and shelf spacing. Some racks have additional features like a bench seat or side storage, which can be useful for sitting down to put on shoes or for keeping accessories. When counting capacity, remember that tall boots may take up more than one shelf space, and children's shoes take up less. Care and maintenance
